ReiBoot is a Windows utility app developed by Tenorshare for users of iOS and iPadOS devices, which include the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Apple Watch. In essence, ReiBoot can be used to troubleshoot and repair various issues related to Apple mobile devices, the most common being operating system crashes that render the device inoperable and in need of full restoration. Tenorshare is a respected brand of software repair tools not only for iOS and iPadOS but also macOS and Android; the company is better known for ReiBoot because Apple devices are somewhat notorious for needing to be rebooted and restored.

Understanding What ReiBoot Can Do For You

Virtually all iPhone users are bound to run into situations whereby iOS freezes to the point of requiring a restart, but this only results in the device getting stuck on the lock screen. A variation of this issue is when the iPhone has either run out of battery or it has been manually turned off, but it then refuses to boot into iOS. These issues can also happen to the iPod, Apple Watch, or iPad, but we will continue to refer to the iPhone for the sake of simplicity throughout this review. The same thing applies to iOS, which should be read to refer to iPadOS as well.

ReiBoot provides four main levels of iPhone repair through a Windows interface:

* Access to the iOS recovery mode.

* Forcing the exit from iOS recovery more to reboot.

* Factory reset.

* Repairing all iOS issues.

When you download the free version of this utility, you will be required to enter some personal information. Once your Windows PC is connected to the iPhone, ReiBoot will identify the device model, serial number, and other unique identifiers such as IMEI code. The free version of ReiBoot will let you enter recovery mode as often as you need to, but you can only allow the software to reboot the iPhone five times in the free version. If you intend to keep using ReiBoot, or if you wish to force a factory reset and repair all issues, you will need to pay for a monthly, annual, or lifetime subscription, which would allow you to access numerous other features.

The free ReiBoot options are great. They can save your data, restore it from a backup, reboot your iPhone into a safe state, provide an error log, run a memory test, reboot your phone into recovery mode, and more. Furthermore, the iOS issues that may have caused problems, in the beginning, are repaired by this utility, but only if you use the premium subscription version. Tenorshare also provides customer support to subscribers, and this is a convenient feature in case you are not able to get the iPhone to boot.

It is important to note that ReiBoot does not recover deleted, lost, or corrupted files. Tenorshare offers a different solution for this purpose; it is called UltData and requires the Apple device to be reasonably operational. In other words, if you wish to recover data from an iPhone that does not boot into iOS, you would have to use ReiBoot before UltData.

To get started with ReiBoot you need to do is download the latest version of the utility. It should work regardless of whether the iOS version is new or old. All versions of ReiBoot use the same installation method, which means you need to either click the downloaded file from the browser or drag and drop the executable onto the taskbar icon. It does not matter whether your Apple device is new or old; ReiBoot will recognize it and select the right repair procedures automatically.

Using ReiBoot for Windows

The iPhone battery should be fully charged before connecting it to the PC where ReiBoot has been installed; you may need to find an adapter if your device only has a Lightning port. There's no learning curve, and there's no need to install drivers.

What makes ReiBoot different from most other similar utilities is the information it provides about iPhone files and the tools available to scan the device. You may want to perform an immediate boot and recovery, but ReiBoot will identify which issues are compromising the operation of your iPhone. At this stage, you will be given three options:

* Repair all identified issues without loss of data.

* Go deep into iOS in order to solve issues, but at the risk of losing some data.

* Brute-force a factory reset that will leave the iPhone as if it was recently shipped.

As long as your iPhone was signed into your iCloud account and connected to the internet prior to not being able to boot, pretty much any of the three options listed above should be adequate. If there is something that Apple excels at is its constant backup functionality and the ability to restore everything from iCloud accounts. Some iPhone users who subscribe to the premium version of ReiBoot enjoy having the ability to perform factory reset at will because they know that Apple does not make it easy, but a full recovery from iCloud will include iOS updates and all personalization options, which means that your iPhone can be restored to an optimal stage before iOS becomes bloated and runs into issues.

The repairs performed by ReiBoot through the USB cable of your Windows machine include issues arising from the following:

* Sync errors.

* Frozen screens.

* Boot process stuck before the lock screen.

* The boot process loops continuously.

* Touchscreen has been disabled.

* Cloud connection errors.

* Blank screens.

Should You Use ReiBoot for Windows?

The use of emergency repair tools such as ReiBoot should not void the guarantee of your Apple device, but this is not what a technician at the Genius Bar will tell you. The ability to enter recovery mode should not be something that requires specialized tools, but Apple insists on having customers go through their official support channels whenever there are problems with their products.

Under ideal conditions, there would not be a need for ReiBoot; the conditions we are talking about would be living close to an Apple Store with a Genius Bar that is not always crowded. Another ideal condition would be if calls to Apple tech support were always answered promptly and with a full resolution. Many users of ReiBoot for Windows feel that using the app saved them a trip to a Genius Bar that is constantly busy. Others have been able to reset an iPhone that was stubbornly connected to iCloud, and which was meant to be given to someone else.

If we look at the testimonials shared by Tenorshare customers, some of them praise the app because it solved issues that Genius Bar technicians couldn't or wouldn't fix; this is usually related to a known hesitancy from Apple to reset mobile devices to their factory settings. Then again, Apple is known to oppose "Right-to-Repair" legislation because this is a company that has made millions of dollars locking their customers into their own support and repair schemes.

When it comes down to dollars and sense, the premium version of ReiBoot costs less than AppleCare plans, but Tenorshare does not offer replacement coverage as Apple does. Even with AppleCare, you still have to deal with lines at the Genius Bar, although you can make appointments to this effect. The bottom line is this: If you often need to restore your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or iPod for any reason, ReiBoot makes sense. This app is also very useful in emergencies.
